Through the Valley is the story of the decline of an English country house, Neapcaster Park, before and after World War II. The novel follows the lives of three boys, and the jealousies and tensions between them. Geoff is the son of the estate manager, Ralph’s father is General Harry Meredith, the owner of the estate and David Levine is the son of an intelligent, but physically clumsy, Jew. Robert David Quixano Henriques (1905 – 1967) was a British writer, broadcaster and farmer. His family were descended from one of the oldest Sephardic Portuguese families that migrated to Britain in the 17th Century. He was a frequent broadcaster, appearing on Any Questions and on various television shows. Published by the Reprint Society in 1951. Dust jacket is slightly frayed at the edges, otherwise the book is in good condition with binding intact.
