James Lansdale Hodson (1891-1956) was a British novelist, scriptwriter and journalist.
He worked as a war correspondent for the Daily Mail during World War II, and published his War Diary in 7 books.
This volume covers his journey around the United States during the winter and spring of 1943/1944. He describes the many people he spoke to, and offers his impressions of the American mindset.
At times he disapproves of what he finds, but in general he views America with affection.
Published by Victor Gollancz in 1945.
Includes a newspaper clipping from the period.
