The Foolish Gentlewoman is a novel set in post-war London, telling the story of an assorted group of characters staying in the home of a wealthy, childless widow in her mid-fifties.
Among Isabel Brocken’s house guests are her pompous brother-in-law and a nephew from New Zealand, but when Isabel takes on a poor relation, Tilly Cuff, it causes bad feeling among her other guests.
Margery Sharp (1905 – 1991) was an English author who wrote for adults and children. Her best known work is The Rescuers series, about 2 mice, which was adapted for film by Disney.
Published by The Reprint Society in 1950.
