Masterwort Shaggy A particularly fine masterwort, reared by the famous gardener Margery Fish, Astrantia major Shaggy is a small, long-flowering, herbaceous perennial. The pretty, mid-green leaves are much divided, setting off the flowers beautifully. From June to August, the pincushion-like true flowers, surrounded by pretty green and white bracts, sometimes tinged pink, rise on slender, branched stems above the leaves. Lovely in semi-shade, it suits both cottage garden and modern schemes. Masterwort Shaggy holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Mulch well, as astrantias don’t like to dry out.
