The Georgian Literary Scene is a survey of the literary scene of the late 19th and early 20th Century. It includes essays on many important writers: Henry James, George Bernard Shaw, H.G. Wells, Joseph Conrad, the Sitwells, Somerset Maugham and Katherine Mansfield are just some of those who feature, along with William Butler Yeats, the war poets such as Wilfred Owen and the modernist T. S. Eliot. Frank Swinnerton (1884 – 1982) was a familiar figure in the literary world and his knowledge of the period provided him with reminiscences and first hand material. He was a novelist, critic, biographer and essayist and the author of more than 50 books. This book is number 943 in the Everyman’s Library. Published by J.M. Dent, revised edition 1951. The dust jacket is frayed, but the book is in good condition with binding intact.
