From Hell to Breakfast is a collection of first hand accounts from sailors, soldiers and airmen who took part in the Second World War.
There are stories from men who lived through bombing raids on London, tales of the navy rescuing downed pilots, RAF men describe hunting enemy fighters at night, and members of submarine crews recount their experiences.
From Hell to Breakfast also includes an eyewitness account of the the St Nazaire Raid, a successful British amphibious attack on the heavily defended Normandie dry dock at St. Nazaire in German-occupied France. Known as ‘the greatest raid of all’, the participants in the raid earned 89 decorations for bravery, including five Victoria Crosses.
The author, War Correspondent Carl Olsson, himself witnessed some of the major battles and conflicts of WW2 at first hand.
Published by George Allen & Unwin in 1943.
The dust jacket is frayed and worn. Otherwise, the pages and binding are presentable with no major defects.
A newspaper clipping containing a review of the book is included.
