Footsteps to Fame is an educational book which aims to inspire young people to emulate the heroes of the past. It is very broad in its scope, beginning with thinkers such as Confucius, and including scientists, artists and builders as well as military figures and leaders of men such as Alexander the Great and Napoleon. Friswell also included are three chapters on ‘Benefactors’, lauding the great philanthropists of his day. Shropshire born James Hain Friswell (1825-78) was a prolific author of the Victorian age and a noted defender of the Christian faith. He was especially regarded in his own time for his efforts to improve the quality of literature for young readers.
