Haluk Akakçe's Reincarnation was published to coincide with the artist's solo exhibition of the same name in Istanbul in 2009. Using paintings and video installations, ‘Reincarnation’ explored themes of transformation, rebirth and the continuity of life. This beautifully designed book is more than just a record of the exhibition; it also surveys Akakçe's recent and previous work, his areas of interest and his sources of inspiration. Reincarnation includes an introductory essay by Dr. Kathy Battista; an interview with Nomi Ruiz, former lead singer of “Hercules and the Love Affair”; a philosophical text by architect Lebbeus Woods; and an extract from an essay by the French philosopher Henri Bergson. Haluk Akakçe, born in Turkey in 1970, is a multimedia artist living and working in New York and Istanbul. His work explores the role of technology in manipulating human perceptions in the current age, through video animations, wall paintings and sound installations. Dedication and signature by the artist. Book condition: New. Published by Galerist and Tabanlioglu, Istanbul.
