The Family at Misrule, by Ethel Turner
€35.00
Quay Books
The Family at Misrule is a story for children set in Australia in the 1880s. Similar to Little Women or Little House on the Prairie, it tells the story of the large Woolcot family. The father of the family is a stern Army Captain who already has 6 children from his first marriage. He and his young second wife have just had their second baby, nicknamed ‘The Scrap’.
The Woolcot children are all adventurous and independent and inclined to cause trouble. They frequently get themselves into sticky situations which they have to get out of with very little to no adult help.
Ethel Turner (1870 – 1958) was a popular writer of children’s fiction in Australia. She wrote more than forty novels, several of them recounting the adventures of the mischievous Woolcot family.
