Honour a Physician is a fictional autobiography of a doctor’s experiences following the introduction of the National Health Service in Britain in 1948. It is a ‘devastatingly caustic’ caricature of a medical practice in an industrial town and charts the difficulties faced by an ordinary doctor in adjusting to the new system.
