The small woodturned mushroom is crafted from a sacred Irish hawthorn tree that lives in my local area here in Co. Galway. Known as the Fairy tree, Hawthorn has huge significance in Irish folklore. Its fine grain is not only stunning but also beautiful to work with. Hawthorn is also an ancient tree that can be seen in many hedgerows and fields across Ireland. It was one of the three main sacred trees to our Celtic ancestors, along with Oak and Ash.I have personally selected branches that have fallen naturally from Cnoc na Carraigín (Hill of the Small Rocks), a sacred and ancient woodland located in my village. The trees from which these branches have fallen could easily be up to 100 years old, if not more.Each wooden mushroom gift comes packaged beautifully in a 100% Fairtrade cotton bag.
