Barrow Lapel Pin Collection Carnelian, Lapis Lazuli, Pink Opal or Donegal Granite
from €110.00
Gifted From Ireland
Our gemstone lapel pins are handmade in our Northern Irish studio. Designed to compliment our cufflink collections, the Barrow lapel pin features an oval cabochon cut stone set into a classic sterling silver bezel setting. Lapel pins can also be worn as tie pins, or used to secure cravats or scarves. The oval face of the lapel pin measures 12mm x 8mm. About the stonesCarnelian is a semi translucent orange gemstone which has been much prized by jewellery makers since antiquity. It is known to have been used as beads by Early Neolithic peoples. We hand select our Carnelian for its rich lustrous orange colour and love how this ancient stone looks so striking in a contemporary setting.Lapis Lazuli is perhaps the best known gemstone. A mineral prized by royalty and artists throughout history for its vibrant ultramarine colour. Most Lapis Lazuli is mined in Afghanistan, and it comes in many variations, sometimes including flecks of gold pyrite which make it resemble the starry night sky. Sourced only in Peru, pink opal is a rose colour opaque gemstone. Thought by some to be a stone representing hope and healing, opal stones are also a birthstone for October birthdates. A unique form of granite only found in Co. Donegal, North West Ireland and rarely seen in jewellery, we selected this stone for its small pattern size and stunning dappled monochrome shades.About Product CareWhen wearing a lapel or tie pin, it is recommended that an open weave or heavily patterned tie be worn. It is not recommended with a plain or closely woven silk tie. Never force the pin through fabrics; it should be able to go through easily. It is not uncommon for a small pinhole to be left in the fabric after a tie pin is removed. When removing the pin, care must always be taken to avoid snagging the fibres of the fabric as the point of the pin is withdrawn. To help remove any remaining hole in the fabric steam may be used (but do not iron the tie) or a gentle movement side to side of the fabric to close over the hole.About the packagingLapel Pins are shipped in a jewellery box, with an elegant gift envelope and gift card enclosed.
