Country: France Region: Bordeaux (St.Emilion) Varietal: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon Vintage: 2012 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Chateau La Gaffeliere Description: This cru, named after a leprous hospital ("gaffet") in medieval times, is located at the outpost of the southern entrance to Saint-Émilion, between Ausone Hill and from Pavia. Here, one does not count in years but in centuries: one found there the vestiges of a Gallo-Roman villa which would have belonged to the poet Ausone. The Malet Roquefort family (Count Léo de Malet Roquefort today) is established here since the 17th century. On a clay and limestone vineyard of 22 ha in one piece, planted with Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc, is born a first Grand Cru Classé B, developed since 2013 in technical buildings completely redone.  Tasting Note:  The palate plays more in the register of the finesse than in that of the power: dynamic attack, supple and fresh, round and suave evolution, supported by elegant and silky tannins, which give a lot of charm to this bottle. Food Matches: Red Meat, Lamb, Chicken, Cheese
