It is one of the oldest and most awarded family wineries in Western Australia's famous Margaret River region. First established in 1971 by Dr Kevin and Diana Cullen, the winery has built an outstanding reputation for biodynamic wines that receive great acclaim.Di and Kevin's youngest daughter Vanya, who has worked at the winery since 1983, became Chief Winemaker in 1989 and Managing Director in 1999. She has worked tirelessly to develop the winery over this time, first introducing organic farming in 1998 and then, in 2004, saw it classified as a fully certified biodynamic estate. In 2000, she was named the Qantas/The Wine Magazine Winemaker of the Year, becoming the first West Australian, and first woman, to do so.All wines produced are sourced from grapes grown on the Cullen and adjoining Mangan Vineyards. Both sites are certified biodynamic. Cullen Wines are made with no additions of yeast, acid or tannins. Cullen's flagship wines, the Diana Madeline and the Kevin John, are among the very best of their styles in Australia and beyond. The 'Mangan' Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon and Merlot/Malbec/Petit Verdot are fruit driven wines which express the site on which the grapes are grown. The 'Mangan' East Block 2013 is a blend of 58% Petit Verdot and 42% Malbec from fruit grown on the prime eastern corner of the vineyard. It is opulent, vibrant and beautifully balanced. New to the list this autumn is the Mangan Vineyard Semillon, which displays attractive florality and white peach notes. The Late Harvest Semillon, made from cane cut Semillon grown on the Mangan vineyard, is rich and luscious balanced by crisp acidity, and completes the range perfectly." Product Features: Certified Biodynamic;Certified Organic;Sustainable;Vegan;Vegetarian Winemaker: Vanya Culle Vineyards: Cullen follows the maxim that states that great wines are made in the vineyard. Thus, prior to planting, extreme care is taken in choosing the best possible site. Fruit for all Cullen Wines is sourced exclusively from two vineyards, both certified A Grade Biodynamic by the Biological Farmers Association (BFA) of Australia. Vinification: The idea behind this wine is to make a white wine like a red wine. The grapes were left on skins and fermented partially before being pressed. The skin contact went from two days to one month depending on the grape/parcel. The fruit was fermented in different vessels: open fermenters, closed tank as well as amphora which explains the many layers and complexity in this wine. 79% of the wine spent four months in new Tonnellerie Bordelaise and Louis Latour barrels. Tasting Notes:  A complex wine, with lemon, kumquat, orange blossom and hints of honey. Textured and concentrated on the palate, with great length and persistence. Flavours of figs, dried pears, cream and orange are supported by a gentle saltiness on the finish. Food Suggestion: Fantastic as an aperitif or with rosemary and salt crusted chicken. Also a great match with crustacean and fish dishes, as well as mild Asian food. Closure: Stelvin  ABV:15%   Acidity [g/l]: 4.5
