Country: France Region: Bordeaux (Medoc) Varietal:  Cabernet Sauvignon/ Merlot Vintage: 2017 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Baron Philippe de Rothschild Description: The Médoc region is "the most famous red wine district in Bordeaux, and possibly the world", writes Master of Wine Jancis Robinson. It’s home to storied appellations like Pauillac and Margaux, which house big-name châteaux and very pricey wines (Think Chateau Margaux at over $1000/bottle). But head just outside of these areas, and you’ll find small, family-owned estates producing delicious Bordeaux at far friendlier prices. Tasting note: This medium-bodied red from Bordeaux's Left Bank is still a very youthful ruby red colour with a violet tint. The nose opens on fresh berry fruit (blackcurrant), with refined vanilla aromas. It has a stylish and expressive mid-palate, full of flavour, expressing all the power of a Medoc. A harmonious wine with a fine balance between oak and fruit. Food Matches: Red Meat / Venison / Soft Cheese / Venison
