The French Collection is a case that we have handpicked with six whites and six Reds. These include wines that we import ourselves, and a handful of choice selections from importers we work closely with. The result is a case of wines that range all the way from Bordeaux across the South of France, These are great examples of wines that really deliver value for money, particularly those from the Languedoc region across the South of France. Take a leap and discover some French Gems. Chateau La Verriere Bordeaux Rouge Bordeaux, France, 2018 2 x 75cl A New wine in Ireland from Renowned winemaker Alain Besset. His wines have been receiving great reviews by Decanter Magazine and this is a bold statement  It is delicious. It shows deep red blackcurrant fruits with flavours of Mocha and Chocolate. It has wonderful length and is superb lingering flavours.  Montsable Chardonnay Languedoc, France, 2018 2 x 75cl Let’s cut straight to the chase. Quality Chardonnay from Burgundy in France is quite something else – but so is the price, pushing it beyond the everyday budgets of most Chardonnay lovers. Montsable have taken the Burgundian style (and even experienced Burgundian winemakers!) to the south of France (the Languedoc-Roussillon region to be exact) and produced an elegant style Chardonnay that gives genuine white Burgundians a run for their money at a price none can touch! Produced in the high hills and chalky soils of vineyards nestled in the Saint Chinian area of the Languedoc. This is an elegant, gently oaked style with pure fruit flavours and great texture. Classy stuff, jaw dropping price. Take it to the next dinner party and tell them you spent twice the price! Serve lightly chilled with white meat dishes like roast chicken and grilled fish. Chateau Roc de Levraut Bordeaux Superieur  Boredeaux, France, 2017 2 x 75cl Great Value Bordeaux that won heaps of Medals in numerous competitions. Gold by Gilbert & Gaillard, Gold in Feminalise and Gold in the Main Bordeaux Wine Show Concours de Bordeaux. It is from 2016, a Vintage described in February 2020 by Jancis Robinson as ‘Probably the greatest Vintage of Bordeaux that I will ever get to taste in my lifetime’ . The Merlot brings colour, roundness and fruit while the Cabernet gives it finesse and richness in elegant tannins. This is a generous, fruity, structured, easy to access, both seductive and with character Chateau Beausejour FrontonFronton, France, 2016 2 x 75clChâteau Beausejour consists of 14 hectares in the north of the Médoc, opposite the Gironde estuary. The vines are planted on three plateaux made up of clay and gravel. The grapes are picked by hand, thereby facilitating the selection of ripe bunches. Vinification is in concrete, which has the advantage of protecting the must from thermal shock during fermentation. Ageing is carried out in oak, which enhances the ageing potential of the wine. The mix of grapes here makes for a complex wine. The Merlot brings red fruit and supple tannins, the Cabernets bring intense colour and the Petit Verdot adds a touch of spice, which is enhanced by the barrel ageing. Domaine Cassagnau Red Blend Languedoc, France 2 x 75cl This wine is a blend of three grapes: Syrah and Grenache and Merlot. Both the Syrah and the Grenache grow on the same plot that is emblematic of the estate – a gravelly terrace with large, round pebbles, evidence of a river bed a few million years ago – while the Merlot is planted on a sun-soaked south-facing slope. Brilliant ruby-red colour with deep purple tints is proof of great freshness. The nose has a subtle blend of black berried-fruits – blackberry and blackcurrant – and a hint of spicy pepper and Mediterranean herbs – Syrah’s signature flavour. The front palate is rounded and creamy with a long, fresh finish. Cassagnau red is an open, generous, fruity and expressive wine. Domaine de Madone Picpoul di Pinet Pinet, France 2 x 75clWith a lovely, pale, crystalline green robe, this wine offers a fine and pleasant nose with aromas of  acacia and hawthorn flowers.  Elegant on the palate, it is perfectly balanced between acidity and structure.  To be enjoyed alongside seafood, Mediterranean cuisine, or cheeses.
