We've been importing wine for just over 20 years directly from some of our favourite vineyards. In that time, we have found new producers to work with, dropped some others along the way, and come back to some of them in between. The wines we import today are ones we are extremely happy with, consistent in their winemaking and the value their wines bring to you, our customers day in day out. The Flagship Case is a selection of some of our favourites, not our best, just our favourites. These are the wines that represent wonderful value and they are classics within our range. We hope you enjoy them.  The Cunning Plan ShirazMc Laren Vale, Australia2 x 75cl bottlesThis wine has been voted into the top 100 wines in Australia for 2021. Awarded 96 points at the Adelaide Wine show & Silver medal at Mc Laren Vales trophy show, it is made by Irish man Fergal Tynan. Remarkably great wine and a new dawning of Shiraz from Australia - This is elegant NOT big brash and bold.  Esporao Reserva Bianco Alentejo, Portugal2 x 75cl bottlesOur favourite white from Portugal. This is sensational. This was the first wine produced by Esporão in 1985. Classic wine style made from estate grown grapes that show the consistency and the rich, ripe character which is typical of the best Alentejo wines.   Chateau GueriniereSaint Emilion, France2 x 75cl bottlesWorld Class Bordeaux, worthy of ageing for many many years. Retails at €20 and remarkable value. *** Jancis Robinson Essential reds Article May 9th, 2020, Financial Times***Having tasted numerous Bordeaux, she commented 'Best value, I think, was Chateau La Guérinière. The Rambaud family’s Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines are grown in the far south-east of the St-Émilion appellation, obviously with great care, as this ripe, rich, velvety wine with a fresh top note tastes not unlike a lesser Pomerol'   Mas d'Auzieres Sympathie Pour les Stones Pic St Loup, France2 x 75cl bottlesIrene Tolleret moved from marketing for the giant Val d'Orbieu to wine making only seven years ago and her first vintages have been quite spectacular. The mas is already developing an international cult following because of the quality of the end results. She is experimenting with the use of oak in the Bois de Perie. If you like good Chateau Neuf du Pape, This wine is exceptional. She is a French politician, andmaking this wine is her weekend hobby as she puts it. We have been importing it for 5 years now.     Iona Vineyards Sauvignon BlancElgin, South Africa2 x 75cl bottlesIona is A Favourite wine of renowned wine critic Jancis Robinson. It is also a favourite of mine. Each soil type and aspect of the Sauvignon blanc vineyards are matched with different clone to ensure we capture the endless flavours of the variety in the vineyards. These are retained in the cellar, with each block being vinified separately. The harvest of the Sauvignon blanc stretched from middle March to early April which provides a perfect long ripening period to develop the intense concentrated flavours. An important component is the addition of 4% Semillon which enhances the mid- palate weight and complexity of the wine. Stirring of the lees brings that unmistakable Iona texture.   EniraBessa Valley, Bulgaria2 x 75cl bottlesThis wine shows a deep purple colour.  The nose explodes with vanilla and menthol aromas, followed by strong blackberry and raspberry nuances. The mouth is starting with a round attack, followed by some structured woody tannins and a red fruits in the middle. This wine is ending with an amazing balance between its 12 month wood ageing and the perfect ripeness of its harvested grapes.
