Sure to be a conversation starter and that’s before you’ve taken the cork out! Gotas de Mar means ‘Drops of the Ocean’ and if the bottle and label design doesn’t give you an instant chilled Mediterranean maritime vibes then the wine inside will. Albariño (alba-reen-yo) is the variety and for some years now it’s been the cool kid on the block on the wine scene in Europe especially. Over the summer months especially this is one of our favourite styles to keep in the fridge at all times. This coastal white is dry in style with juicy stone fruit and citrus flavours, it’s aromatic and slightly spicy and it is so, so damn refreshing! Gotas de Mar Albarino is produced from vineyards in Rias Baixas, a sub region of Galicia in the north west of Spain just north of Portugal. This is pretty much the home of great Albariño, so you’re in the right spot to try a great example of this style. Tasting Notes:  Brilliant pale lemon colour. Intense aromas of peaches, white flowers, minerals and a hint of fresh sea breeze. On the palate, well-balanced prominent acidity with stone fruits and light minerality. Lingering finish, with mouth-watering acidity and long complex persistence. Food Pairing: Albariño is an absolute perfect wine match to fresh seafood – serve it chilled with the best kai moana dishes on offer. Grilled fish, calamari, oysters, mussels, clams or an antipasto platter.
