Tibetan Cherry
A star of the winter garden, Prunus serrula, the Tibetan cherry, is a medium-sized, round-headed, deciduous tree with the most beautiful copper-red bark, which peels to reveal shining mahogany new bark underneath. A fairly slow-growing, strong little tree, it makes the perfect specimen in the right position. Plant in full sun to bring out the beauty of the bark; the tree looks particularly beautiful in front of conifers, yews, or pale masonry. The leaves are long, narrow and dark green, turning yellow in autumn. Small white flowers, 2cm across, appear in late April.
