Clematis montana Broughton Star
Bred in the UK, Clematis montana Broughton Star is a moderately vigorous, deciduous, double-flowered clematis, not as rampant as most other Montana Group clematis. Leaves emerge purplish-bronze, turning deep green in summer. In May and early June, scented, deep pink, double flowers emerge; these usually comprise four outer petals with a ruff of smaller petals round the centre. Excellent plant for covering an ugly shed or wall. Clematis Broughton Star is in Clematis Pruning Group 1, and rarely requires pruning. Holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
