Flannel Bush California Glory
A lovely, wonderfully ornamental plant with a long flowering season, hybrid Fremontodendron California Glory is a large, vigorous, evergreen shrub, with deep green, three-lobed leaves, a wonderful foil for the flowers. These are a rich egg-yolk yellow, 2 ¼”/6cm across, and are borne from late spring to early autumn. Best planted against a warm, sunny wall except in the mildest areas, it does best in dry, not very fertile, even chalky soil, to prevent lush young leaves being damaged by frosts or cold, drying winds. Flannel bush California Glory holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
