Corsican Hellebore A handsome, long-flowering plant for the winter garden, Helleborus argutifolius is a medium-sized, clump-forming, evergreen perennial with leathery, deep green leaves divided into three toothed holly-like leaflets. From late winter to mid-spring, clusters of apple-green cup-shaped flowers appear, lovely with snowdrops or other early bulbs and an invaluable early nectar source for pollinators. Unlike other hellebores, the Corsican hellebore is happy in full sun as long as the soil is moisture-retentive, but also enjoys a position under coniferous trees. Cut back any damaged leaves in late winter and prune out the flowered stems after the flowers have gone over to encourage blooming the following year. Corsican hellebore holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
