Purple Loosestrife Beaujolais A very fashionable flower since appearing at Chelsea Flower Show in 2014, Lysimachia atropurpurea Beaujolais is a short-lived, deciduous, herbaceous perennial with a clump-forming, mildly spreading habit. The narrow, wavy-edged leaves, to 4”/10cm long, are a delicate silvery-green, making a lovely foil for the flowers. The flowers are borne in upright, burgundy spikes in midsummer, are good as cut flowers, and are very attractive to butterflies.
