Spurge Tasmanian Tiger A very striking form of the species, Euphorbia characias Tasmanian Tiger is an evergreen perennial with an upright, rounded, structural habit and long flowering period. Upright shoots are covered in narrow, pointed grey-green leaves, attractively edged in cream, giving the plant a light, graceful appearance. From early spring to early summer, the shoots are topped by broad, conical flower-heads of cream-coloured bracts with green centres and yellow eyes. Gives year-round, structural interest, and is especially good in a gravel or Mediterranean planting, but is not for the coldest areas. Be aware that the sap is toxic; wear gloves and protect eyes when cutting back the flowered shoots. Spurge Tasmanian Tiger holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
