Beachhead Iris
A perky Iris with a compact upright dwarfing habit. In Spring, the sword shaped mid-green leaves pop out, closely followed by flowers which last until summer. The flower heads of Iris hookeri are a soft mid-blue with striking deep blue veins and a blotched white centre. Beachhead Iris is tolerant of salt spray so it is the perfect choice for coastal or seaside gardens. Its compact growth also make it a suitable choice for rock gardens and container planting. Hookeri is a well behaved low maintenance plant that prefers slightly acidic, moist soil. Would benefit from spring division every 3-5 years. It is both deer and rabbit resistant.Site: Tolerates coastal exposureSoil: Prefers moist soil, well drained or moisture retentive, loamy, sandyPosition: Full sunSeason of Interest: Blue flowers from Spring to Summer lasting several weeksHardiness: Hardy up to -10°CHeight: 12in (30cm) Spread: 8in (20cm)
