Hydrangea Soeur Thérèse
More compact and with smaller flower-heads than Mme Emile Mouillère, Hydrangea macrophylla Soeur Thérèse (named after Mother Teresa) is nevertheless considered superior by many hydrangea connoisseurs. A medium-sized, rounded, deciduous mophead which flowers for three months from late June. Large (8”/21cm) heads of a pure, clear white with a very small blue eye, the flowerhead fading to palest pink as it ages. The toothed, oval leaves are deep green. Lovely to brighten a part-shaded border, and does well in pots if kept well watered. The flowers are good for cutting and drying; leave the flower heads on the plant over winter to protect the flower-buds from frost and dead-head in February.
