Now available: MICROLOT KERUGOYA - named after the Kenyan province where it comes from - has a sweet grapefruit taste, has a rich berry touch and finally gives a caramel creamy aftertaste - so freakin 'yummy!   About KERUGOYA - Limited Time Only We like to offer you something extremely special every so often! Our changing Microlot coffee gives a shot full of super intense, beautiful speciality coffee. This month we've got our limited edition KERUGOYA - About 190 km south of Nairobi and 8 km from Kerugoya, the Mutira Farmers' Cooperative Society comprises about 4,000 smallholder farmers, each owning about 180 coffee trees. Lately, a lot of effort has been made to plant shade trees and thus combat climate change in that region. The berries are pulped on an Aagard disc puler and ground in Central Kenya Coffee Mills. Taste Profile: Sweetness of grapefruit, Aftertaste of caramel Cupping Score: 85+  Altitude: 1700m Process: Washed   About our Microlot Series  At Moyee we believe in roasting and packaging in the country of origin so that the value of the coffee is neatly distributed. This ensures a fair relationship between producers and consumers. We believe this simple shift in the coffee chain can radically improve the lives of millions of people.  Due to intensive cooperation between our farmers and roasting company in the country of origin, we can leave much more knowledge and value than other coffee brands. As a result, we learn a lot about the countries where our coffees come from and we can transfer our knowledge about 'Western coffee wishes' there. For our Microlot Series, we sourced ethically produced coffees from co-operatives but due to the long nature of our supply chain and time required to build up a complete supply chain, the Microlot coffees are roasted by our Moyee Coffee head roaster in Amsterdam. We need to test new flavour profiles, regions and countries so that we may be able to add a fixed flavour to our range in the future as we spread our FairChain mission! We test delicious new flavours, you get to drink them. Win!  Moyee Coffee Impact Mission Currently, 90% of the proceeds of the total coffee production disappear into the pockets of a number of large multinationals, which we call the 'Big Coffee'. This means that the coffee farmers are left with only 10% of the value. Value where nothing has been 'added' - only 2% is actual profit! We may be entrepreneurs, but this imbalance cannot be justified in any way.  By applying FairChain principles we leave 300% more money in the coffee producing country. We also pay our farmers a 20% FairChain premium with the aim of growing towards a living income.
