(price inc's worldwide shipping by post) Product Code: A19 Originally from Scotland, the 'quaich' was a drinking cup traditionally used to offer a guest a warm welcome, or also a farewell drink (though some quaichs had glass bottoms so the drinker could keep a careful eye on his hosts), by being filled with whiskey or brandy. The word comes from the Scottish-Gaelic word for cup - 'cuach'. Originally they were made from wood, though other materials such as silver or horn were later used as they gained popularity. This particular item however is crafted in pewter, and comes engraved in stunning Celtic designs inspired by a High Cross near Mullingar.  Diameter 3 1/2" (or 5 3/4" including handles). HANDMADE IN IRELAND
