Country: France  Region: Burgundy  Vintage: 2014 Category: Red Wine  Color:  Red  Varietal: Pinot Noir/Nero Producer: Combe d’Or "Combe d'Or, or 'golden valley', is named after the Combe Lavaux, a beautiful nature reserve near the communes of Gevrey-Chambertin and Brochon. Frustrated at being unable to find a Gevrey that offered both good value and the hallmark characteristics of this appellation, we found an excellent grower from whom we were able to buy some wine and put it under our own label. This will enable us to dictate quality with future vintages. The wine is a blend of eight parcels from sustainably farmed vineyards. The grapes are 100% destemmed before a short pre-fermentation cold maceration to extract the delicate aromas of the Pinot Noir. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in 25% new French oak for 16 months, adding a little spice and roundness to complement the structure of this classically cherry scented Gevery-Chambertin. The pristine fruit, lively acidity and fine velvety tannins make this an excellent Gevrey."
