Enjoyable wines made to be enjoyed young.   Chateau La Fleur Cravignac 2018Saint Emilion Grand Cru, France2 x 75cl Bottles Château La Fleur Cravignac is a family property located on the northwest side, one kilometre from the small medieval city of Saint-Emilion. It covers an Just under eight hectares of vines grown on clay and limestone soils characteristic of Saint-Emilion. Its vineyards are composed 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is wonderfully luscious and ripe, drinking wonderfully right now and has capability of further ageing.  Chateau Grand Lys 2018Bordeaux Superieur, France2 x 75cl Bottles Chateau Grand Lys is a small family farm winery, where all the activity is based on respect for the environment, traditions and the desire to achieve the highest quality of wine produced. Region Medoc leaves its imprint on it, giving character and personality. Its blend is made up of varieties of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, which have been the traditional vinification and aging in oak barrels for 18 months. Chateau La Verriere Bordeaux Superieur 2020Bordeaux, France 2 x 75cl BottlesThe Bessette family has been making wine for four generations. The talented owner-winemaker Alain Bessette is named among the 'Talents de Bordeaux Superieur' every year, a shortlist of top winemakers in the AOP, and his wines consistently win prizes and accolades. This got 90 Points in Decanter Magazine, and it is a wonderfully traditional Bordeaux, with great depth and structure. Chateau Plaisance 2018Montagne Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, France2 x 75cl Bottles Deep purple in colour and shows red fruit (strawberry) on the nose. As is typical for right-bank Bordeaux from the 2018 vintage, we have a bold expression of Merlot on the palate here, with a mouthfeel that is both fleshy and silky. This wine will make a particularly good accompaniment to less intensely flavoured meats and poultry -rabbit, turkey or chicken for example – and will of course go well with cheese.   'Best value, I think, was Ch La Guérinière. The Rambaud family’s Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines are grown in the far south-east of the St-Émilion appellation, obviously with great care, as this ripe, rich, velvety wine with a fresh top note tastes not unlike a lesser Pomerol' Jancis Robinson, wine Critic Chateau Gueriniere  2018Bordeaux Superieur, France2 x 75cl Bottles  Here's another stunning Bordeaux value from the dynamite 2018 vintage. This one is from the famous right bank commune of St. Emilion. Chateau La Gueriniere is a small, family-owned estate of about 36 acres. The vineyard spans the villages of Saint-Pey-d'Armens and Saint-Hippolyte. Vines average 30 years of age and are planted on sandy soil. A blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in concrete tanks instead of oak barrels to retain the bright flavours of the fruit from this remarkable vintage and allow the grapes to express themselves naturally. The wine shows deep purple in colour and red currants on the nose. On the palate there's a bold expression of blackberries, currants and tobacco with a mouthfeel that is both fleshy and silky. super value! Chateau Beausejour 2016Bordeaux Superieur, France2 x 75cl Bottles The Melet family has owned Château Beauséjour in Fronsac for five generations. Since 2011, the consultant oenologist has been one of Bordeaux’s finest, Stéphane Derenoncourt: here the grapes are picked by hand and the wine is aged for eighteen months, two thirds in barrel. 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc; and terrific this vintage, delivering ripeness but also lively, red-fruited freshness. Well-textured and complete. Excellent example of a classic Bordeaux, showing good bramble fruits with a nice touch of cedar. Fruit, acidity and tannins are all very well balanced. A good buy and perfect with roast meats.
