Description:
Château d'Armailhac, classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, is a close neighbor of Château Mouton Rothschild. Its 123 acres of vines, surrounding the beautiful grounds of the main house, are planted with the typical varieties of the region: 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
Acquired by Baron Philippe in 1933. The wine, aged in oak casks, combines finesse and elegance with powerful, well-structured tannins.
Tasting Note:
James Suckling
Polished and very fine with pretty fruit and berry structure. Full and silky with a delicious finish. It's so good now to drink but has depth and structure. Drink or hold
Wine Advocate
Tasted at the château, the 2010 D'Armailhac has a fabulous, opulent bouquet, with black cherries, boysenberry, almond and hints of cooked meat as it dabbles with secondary aromas. The palate is medium-bodied, with bold tannin, grippy in the mouth and immense weight. There is great density here—tensile and bold, with a grippy finish. It is a long-term prospect.
Gilbert & Galliard
Intense crimson. Warm nose of jammy red fruit. Richly fruity palate with a sensation of sweetness. Concentrated across the palate. New World style. Pleasant, warm and showing intense fruit.
