Country: England Region: West Sussex Varietal: Pinot Gris Vintage: 2018 Colour: White Style: Dry Producer: Stopham Estate Winery Description:Very special wines are coming of Simon Woodhead’s exciting project that is Stopham Estate. Stopham is known locally for its ancient buildings that were recorded in the Domesday Book, as well as the swans that swim the River Arun, the banks of which form the lower boundary to the vineyards. Simon’s small winery is in a converted barn on the estate. His Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris are some of the best still wines from England. The Pinot Gris has purity reminiscent of New Zealand, with the freshness of the Loire. The fruit character, however, is very English however, with aromas of white flowers and hedgerow, flavours of orchard fruits and refreshing alcohols of just over 10%. Tasting Note:Pale yellow in colour, with aromatic peach and pear fruit alongside the floral character. A balanced palate with crisp acidity. It is quite full in body, with plenty of juicy fruit intensity, but is refreshing and long, with a delicate citrus and stone fruit finish. Food Matches: Seafood / Aperitif / White Meat                     ABV: 11%
