Country: Argentina Region: Mendoza Varietal: Malbec Vintage: 2017 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Elsa Bianchi Vineyards Description: The grapes for this single-vineyard wine come from Valentin Bianchi’s Doña Elsa Estate, situated in Rama Caída, San Rafael, Mendoza, around 2500 feet above sea level. One of the coolest areas in San Rafael, the soil in Rama Caída is of sandy calcareous composition and alluvial origins. Hand-picked and twice sorted by hand, the grapes are crushed, fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Very gentle, periodic pumping over is conducted, with seven days total maceration and natural stabilization. There is minimal French oak aging in an effort to keep fruit fresh, lively and prominent, with a further one month’s aging in the bottle. 2013: “Best Buy” - Wine & Spirits, June 20142012: “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast, April 20142011: 90 Pts - Wine Advocate #203, October 20122011: “Best Buy”  - Wine Enthusiast2010: “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast, November 20122008: “Best Value” - Wine Spectator, June 30, 20092008: “Best Buy” - Wine Enthusiast, Aug 20092008: “Top 100” - Wine & Spirits, Oct 2009 Tasting Note: A very attractive color with a purplish hue, typical of this young variety. Aromas of ripe red fruits predominate, with a floral touch of violets that is characteristic of the Malbec from this region. In addition, due to the characteristics of our soil, some fresh, mineral notes can be found which add further youth and liveliness to this wine. Talking about Malbec means the palate begins with round tannins, medium structure, great freshness and elegance. All these qualities make up an elegant, balanced wine that can be served with any kind of food. Food Matches: Roasted red meats, ripe cheese or also stands beautifully on its own
