Country: France Region: Bordeaux (St.Emilion) Varietal: Merlot, Cabernet Franc Vintage: 2007 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Chateau Belair Drink: 2012-2030 Best Served: 16 Degrees Celsius Description: This estate was owned by the Dubois-Challon family since 1916, and covers 13 hectares of vines planted, predominantly, on well-drained limestone-based soils. The Château is the immediate neighbor of Ausone, situated on the south-facing slope of Saint-Emilion known as the "Côte", overlooking the distant Dordogne river. A traditional winemaking approach is adopted by Pascal Delbeck, new owner and formerly Cellar Manager of Bélair for more than 20 years, working with nature in the vineyard and adopting a minimalist intervention approach in the winery. Since June 2006, Christian Moueix is now contracted to manage Bélair for Pascal Delbeck. The result has transformed the profile when compared to previous vintages. Bélair shows signs of finding once more its former glory as one of the finest wines of St Emilion. Tasting Note:  Sweet fruit, vanilla cream, attractive summer pudding character on the nose. A supple flesh on the palate, quite nicely balanced, softly styled with a gentle composition. Quite firm underneath though. A good presence of clean fruit at the finish, where there is a little more tannin evident. Good potential here. Food Matches: Red Meat, Lamb, Chicken, Cheese
