The "Beaucarnea nolina" or  "Pony Tail Plant" is a Mexican native and makes an excellent addition to any home with its sleek bulb-like trunk and long, lush curly leaves.  Oddly enough, a ponytail palm tree is neither a palm nor a tree. In fact, it is a member of the Agave family and is actually a succulent. It requires pretty low maintenance, making it ideal for any novice plant owners. Care Instructions:  It likes a bright but indirectly bright spot. Its thick trunk stores moisture allowing it to tolerate drought so let the top inch or two of soil to dry out between waterings. Water significantly less in the winter months.
