Dunne takes the original image and drags it through a heavy process of disintegration and editing. The print explores a Dublin identity, the original subject matter is enveloped within the context of contemporary socio-political issues. The horse itself, a statement of beauty and nature, has a distinctly Dublin setting subverting the original painting and its context.About the artistDunne's work highlights the significance of the artistic process by representing cultural and social ideologies. Much of his work is realised through canvas and there is a focus on the silkscreen medium. The exploration of identity through his creative process is a central theme to his practice, highlighting a distinct Dublin rhetoric. His work appears in various collections including the OPW, UCD, The Devlin, HKOP and some private collector. Dunne graduated with an MFA from the National College of Art and Design. He works from Pallas Projects and Damn Fine Print and is based in Dublin, Ireland.Instagram: @neildavidjames
