About the print
“I’m not sure how long I stayed for but weathers changed and grasses swayed in endless chameleon forms.”
Memories flicker like dreams. Cut scene and cello taped together at 6 frames per second.
The past redacts to a single broken landscape.
Whether an unarticulated trauma or a beloved memory our remembrances when retold are non temporal. Forced into linear narratives forms rupture. Grasped like a favourite tea cup, smashed and glued crudely back together we hold a jigsaw that will never be reconciled. Maybe it was never as whole as we think it must have once been anyway.
Through a cut and paste of my own photographs that decay constantly with each repeated zeroxed utterance, the past present and future become a jerking interrupted rhythm. In this the interludes are as significant as the activity. These screen prints are fractured after images that find a space that can exist without possibility of totality. About The Artist
Karen Browett is a print maker and multimedia artist with a particular love for screen print. She began experimenting in screen print 15 years ago as a means to make economical merchandise for the diy punk bands she was playing in. Having honed her skills, she has become a long time Damn Fine Print member and creative.
Alongside this, she has continued to exhibit her own work and is currently sitting the MA ARC with IADT while working as the print technician there.
