Desire Bag

We Make Good
This special bag is designed by Eva Ohno and made by women from a refuge background in the We Make Good textiles studio in Dublin. The fabric is recycled polyester from recycled hotel linen and the trimming is made from reclaimed fire hose. The text comes from words the women used to describe they desired after coming to Ireland. Protection / Kindness / Home / Hope / Freedom / Myself. The words are etched into the hose using a water jet cutter, reminding us of the waves at sea and the experiences of the women who made the bags.
This bag was created to compliment the exhibition Desire: A Revision from the 20th Century to the Digital Age, at the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
Measures: 450mm x 300mm x 80mm, Handles 400mmMaterials: Recycled hotel linen and reclaimed fire hose
