The St Brigid’s Cross is a small cross woven from green rushes. The cross is associated with Brigid of Kildare a patron saint of Ireland. Her feast day is 1st February and traditionally marks the beginning of spring and crosses are made on that day all over Ireland. Crosses are set over doorways and windows to protect homes from harm. The St Brigid’s cross has become a very famous symbol and representation for Ireland.
