Varieties : Ugni-blanc 60% Baco 40% Producer: Domaine Tariquet Description: The Grassa family settled in 1912 at Château du Tariquet where fine eaux-de-vie have been produced since 1683. The wines are exclusively produced from the grapes harvested from the family estate’s vineyards located in the Bas-Armagnac region. They are then distilled in a traditional wood-fired Armagnac alembic at the Château. After several years of aging in oak barrels, these eaux-de-vie become Bas-Armagnacs of great finesse and rare elegance. Characteristics : Aged in wood for at least ten years, revealing a brandy at the height of its powers, and full of character. Baco and Ugni Blanc grape varieties are typical of the region of Bas-Armagnac which produce brandies that age well. Domaine Tariquet Tres Vieil X.O., is aged for between ten and twelve years in charred oak casks before bottling. This ageing in casks imparts the toasted flavours so typical of this style of Armagnac. It is the most ancient and honoured wine spirit of France. During the XVIth century, it was sold in pharmacies as 'medicine'. Since 1683 the Domaine Tariquet and its vineyards have produced one of the greatest Armagnac of the region. Serving suggestion :An amber-yellow robe and a powerful bouquet dominated by dried fruits and quince jelly, with notes of dried flowers and a hint of coconut. The attack is fleshy and honey-tinted. On the palate, the XO achieves a remarkable balance between fruity and woody notes. Hints of prunes, almonds and rancio build to a finish founded on grilled aromas, accented by subtle hints of leather.A classic blend of 15 years old eaux-de-vie. Serve at room temperature after a good meal, with a fine Havana or at the end of a long day.
