"This is a St Brigid's Cross Brooch hand crocheted  adapted by Brenda Leary from a pattern by Rachel A. H. Page. It is crocheted in cotton which has been stiffened after completion Imbolc or Imbolg (Irish pronunciation: [ɪˈmˠɔlˠɡ]), also called Saint Brigid's Day(Irish: Lá Fhéile Bríde) is a traditional national festival. It marks the beginning of spring, and for Christians it is the feast day of Saint Brigid, Ireland's patroness saint. From 2023 Ireland celebrates St Brigid with a  national holiday on 1st Monday of February it is said that St. Brigid converted a dying pagan by fashioning a cross out of the only thing she had available- reeds. These improvised crosses are now a staple of this feast day celebration! St. Brigid’s crosses are made and exchanged between friends and family." This text is printed on the back of the card.
