7 Weeks Evening Weaving Course About the Course This 7-week evening course provides the opportunity to learn how to weave on a 4-shaft loom.  You will learn about this immersive process used for millennia to create cloths. Time on the loom is a great way to escape everyday worries, and we hope you enjoy the process as much as we enjoy teaching it.  Looms will be set up and ready to weave so you can get to grips with learning about different types of weave structures and yarns.  The aim is to make a scarf to take home with you based on your own design development.   WHEN: MONDAYS  13 20 27 February 6 13 20 March, 6PM - 8PM Where and What Time: This workshop runs for 7 evenings from 6pm to 8pm in our Arran Street East Weaving Studio in the heart of the Dublin Fruit and Vegetable Markets area. 43/44 Arran Street East, Dublin 7, Eircode: D07 W226 Cost: €370 If you would like to give this Workshop as a gift please look at our Gift Cards options here. Course Features:   Day 1: Learning about the loom, yarns and basic weave structures  Day 2: Design development - using skills learned on day 1 to create a sample piece exploring different yarns and textures  Days 3, 4, 5: Weaving the scarf based on design development from previous two days (1.5 - 2 metres approx) Day 6: Taking the scarf off the loom and finishing Day 7: Demonstration on how to make a warp and set up a loom, where students will be able to participate. FAQs Who is this course for? This weaving workshop will suit beginners looking for an introduction to working with 4-shaft loom, no previous experience of weaving is required.  Is there an age limit for the Workshop? This course is generally for people aged 18 and above. A teenager may attend if they are accompanied by an adult. Please let us know in advance.  What are my transport/parking options getting to the workshop? The nearest Luas Red Line stop is 'Four Courts', (a five minute walk away) and many bus routes service Stop 1479 on Ormond Quay, at the junction with Capel Street. You'll also find a Dublin Bikes stand at each of these locations. Due to our City Centre location, on-street parking immediately outside the building is limited, but there is pay and display in the general area, and there are large car parks nearby at Jervis Shopping Centre and beside the Fruit and Vegetable Markets. What does the course entail? You will be welcomed by your teacher and brought to an upstairs classroom (no lifts available). Each participant will have access to their own loom and yarns for the duration of the workshop. We supply all the materials you need. Each workshop ends with a class and equipment tidy up - another important part of the weaver's training!  What should I wear/bring? Please wear comfortable clothes that you do not mind getting messy.   Is my booking transferrable and what is the cancellation policy? You may transfer your booking into someone else's name - please just let us know before they attend.
