About the ArtistSometimes it’s hard to know what direction to go. One time I jumped into deep dark water and suddenly forgot which way was up and which was down. Frantic underwater cartwheels couldn’t pick out the beams of light. Sometimes it’s like that.Hand lettering was traced from collage, textures run through photocopiers and grids made with cut up math paper. About the ArtistKaren began screen printing many years ago in order to make merchandise for her bands, leading her to work as a print studio technician, commercial printer and tutor alongside her visual arts practice.Karen has been exhibiting since 2012 in group and solo contexts. Her most recent soloexhibitions were Loose on the Streets in The Darkroom, September 2022, Scurrying Things, Kenilworth Ln Studios, April 2022, and Fragments, Damn Fine Print, February 2020. Karen is a multidisciplinary artist working across fine art print, moving image, audio and installation. Karen is currently completing an artist residency Future Labs with DAS Belfast and has recently completed a residency at The Darkroom, D7. Karen is a current recipient of the Arts Council Bursary and a previous recipient of the Arts Council Agility Award.
