Edition: A2 (Open Edition) A1 (Limited to 20) Paper Stock: Permajet Portrait Rag 285gsm  Sizes: A2 & A1AboutÁine Byrne is interested in the mutability and memory of materials; their function, texture, colour and potential to be remade. Áine’s training as a weaver has given her a heightened appreciation of the process of making and the ritualistic nature of constructing a fabric. Rhythm, pattern and colour are recurring elements in her work. It investigates the reappropriation and reforming of materials, using the contrast between soft and hard, industrial and domestic, body and building. Her artworks like body architecture are often made to be animated by performance, dance and film; other objects have a life of their own, poised like creatures as if about to move of their own accord. Áine Byrne is an Artist, Designer, and Educator working in Dublin. She received her Textile design MA in 2015 at the Royal College of Art, London and Textiles BA hons at NCAD in 2012. Áine’s studio art practice involves textile construction, film, photography, sculpture, costume and collaborative performance work. She has created and led workshops for The Barbican, The Fitzwilliam Museum, Somerset House, and Coal Drops Yard. She is currently a Textile Lecturer at NCAD. Recent exhibitions include: Eyes Peeled, Glovebox, 2022. Interconnection, First Day Gallery, 2022 and TBGS online collaboration with Rajinder Singh The Headcoils of a Ban 2021.
