Join us for an evening of seaweed foraging and proper BBQ with Ksenia Zywczuk of Rathlin [Island] Seabites. She describes herself as a Texan living on Rathlin Island and always adjusting to life across the pond who is happy when fed, foraging or thinking about food. While foraging you will learn how to identify the seaweeds along the shore and taste them straight from the sea. You'll be given guides, recipes and bags to take home your favourites.  Then we will follow up with a barbeque by Great Northern Larder where we will serve a variety of seaweed smoked meats, seaweed dishes, and some amazing seafood. You will taste our foraged seaweeds in simple dishes that you could easily do at home, yet still "wow" your guests with and hopefully we will "amaze" you with bbq-ed dishes that surprise your taste buds! You will need to be at the Spirit Store in Dundalk before 4pm for the bus. The bus will not wait for you as we have tides and other considerations! The foraging will take place along the Louth coastline somewhere, so please bring sturdy shoes (preferably waterproof boots) and outdoor clothing. The bus will bring you back to the Spirit Store (for approx 7.30pm) for a big barbeque and hands on seaweed smoking. Come hungry as you will be well fed. There is ample parking at the venue. All food and equipment is provided. The venue is partially outdoors (with shelter available) so please bring a rain coat. The venue is accessible. Children are welcome up to 9pm, but please be aware that we are on a very busy working quay and constant supervision is required.
