'Maxi-Disco' by Alastair Keady 3 colour, plus two glitter embellishment hand-pulled prints on 420 x 594 mm 330gsm G F Smith Naturalis paper. Edition of 10, signed and numbered by the artist. About the Piece ‘Maxi-Disco’ is the bigger sibling to the ‘Discothèque’ editions. Even more melty than the previous outing, these prints ooze celebratory camp, with a circular twist. More overtly organic, these are the abstract children of disco balls, sex toys, genitalia, paint droplets, sweat, and H R Pufnstuf. Available in six colourways, with a cheeky singular yellow and gold variation, there’s a remix banger to suit all tastes – as long as they find drippy glitter tasteful. Note that this will draw the disco line to a close. I’ve learned my lesson with doubling up on the glitter for screen print – I won’t be rushing back into that minefield. Burn, baby, burn! About the Artist Alastair is a graphic design graduate of NCAD and the Royal College of Art. He’s worked as a designer, and design educator, for far too long to dwell on. Interested in process and materiality in printmaking, he’s previously worked in letterpress, but returned to screen printing in 2017. Often found devising an image-making technique, and then discovering ways to undermine, abuse, and subvert it. Loves a happy accident. Disinterested in rigorous adherence to consistency in a world of perfect reproduction. Which is convenient.
