Metal Wall Art Betty Boop  We could all do with a bit of Betty Boop in our lives! Created by Max and Dave Fleischer in 1930, at the height of the Great Depression, she was a smash hit overnight. Whilst Female Characters had appeared before her in animation, ie Minnie Mouse, they were all animal based characters. Betty is the first fully formed human female character in animation.  First appearing as a brief extra role as a nightclub singer in the popular Bimbo animation 'Dizzy Dishes' - her popularity with audiences for her kind heart & unique voice & singing style, inspired Max Fleischer to develop her into a star character in her own right.  Her sexy night club singer persona was never far from controversy & indeed her 1934 animation 'Ha Ha Ha' was banned for perceived drug use - Betty & Koko the Clown got high on laughing gas at the dentists!  Dimensions: 87 cm (W) x 2 cm (D) x 136 cm (H)
