This Victorian version of the GIF brings static images to life with a simple flip. Invented by Eadweard Muybridge in 1878 - well before we had the technology to film - these images amazed, caused wonder and awe. Eadweard Muybridge was an English photographer who became renowned for his work in the field of motion photography. He created motion studies, using animals and people as his subjects, capturing them in walking, posing, and running positions. These images were them added to discs and viewed in a zoopraxiscope, a device for projecting the moving images, making them look as if they were in motion. The flip book employing a similar technology, shows 6 of his most famous studies shot between 1877 and 1878. It includes the famous “Jumping Horse”, the “Lady jumping the Stool”, and others. You can view the different sequences by placing your thumb at the upper, middle, or lower edge of each side of the flipbook as you flip. A great book for those who love a bit of science, wonder, photography and animation. Check out the rest of our books and toys for kids. How does it  come It comes in a cardboard sleeve and measures approx. 12cm x 5cm x 2cm
