Kiwi Fruit Jenny The only self-fertile kiwi fruit generally available, Actinidia deliciosa Jenny is a borderline hardy, fast-growing, very vigorous, deciduous climber, to 18’ x 13’/ 6m x 4m. The rounded, slightly toothed leaves are light green with red tips. In June, clusters of small white flowers are borne, followed by furry, brown egg-shaped fruit very rich in Vitamin C, and the size of a medium hen’s egg. Best grown espaliered against a warm wall on galvanised wires, allowing fruiting stems to develop along the branches, as it flowers and fruits on one year-old wood.
