Country: France  Region: Cahors Varietal: Malbec Vintage: 2016 Colour: Red Style: Dry Producer: Clos de La Coutale Description: Chateau Du Caillau is produced in the center of France by the Chateau Clos de La Coutale, which has been in the same family for six generations. The estate is situated in the buttress of the Valley of Lot in the Garonne region, approximately 50 kilometers east of Agen. The 53 hectares composing Clos de La Coutale are a part of the most ancient vine-yards in the Cahors appellation area. The Château du Caillau Cahors is a 100% Malbec, 50% was aged in stainless steel tanks and 50% in barriques. Philippe Bernede is aiming at a tamed Cahors, who can be drunk relatively young, but also develops in the bottle for many years. Tasting Note: This wine is packed full with flavours of black fruit, cherry and cassis, with a subtle smoky nuance. The tannins are firm and ripe, giving the wine great structure. Food Matches: Steak, Lamb, Duck
